Our Commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant
We have held the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award since 2019, renewed in 2024, supporting serving personnel, veterans and their families through fundraising, remembrance and recruitment.
Trusted by our customers
RSS Infrastructure creates social value by opening up careers to people from underrepresented groups, supporting charities and schools, and backing the Armed Forces community. We are a Disability Confident Leader, and our group’s Team Auctus has raised over £100,000 for the Royal British Legion across seven rides.
We aim to give people from disadvantaged backgrounds, ex-military personnel, ex-offenders and homeless people a chance to start a fulfilling career in rail, civils and construction. Working with local charities, councils and Jobcentre Plus, we create employment pathways for people who may not otherwise have access to them.
RSS Infrastructure no longer acts as a training provider. Instead, we support people through external training providers to gain the qualifications they need, such as Personal Track Safety (PTS) and construction skills certification.
We value our diverse and inclusive workforce as our greatest asset. As a Disability Confident Leader, the highest level of the Government’s Disability Confident scheme, we make sure applications from disabled people are welcomed and considered fairly. We have also signed the Care Leavers Covenant, the Building Mental Health Charter and the Railway Mental Health Charter.
Our social value work focuses on three areas.
A few examples from our social value case studies.
Our team has joined the Railway Children Sleepout every year since 2020, raising over £5,000.
With Comfort Cases UK and Birmingham Children’s Trust, we packed 100 backpacks for children entering foster care.
We sponsored and judged Design a Railway Station for 2030, which inspired over 120 West Midlands students.
We ran a hands-on AI workshop to help West Midlands charities save time and reach more people.
We hold the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, first achieved in 2019 and renewed in 2024.
We are a proud partner of the Royal British Legion. Team Auctus, made up of staff from across our group, has raised over £100,000 across seven Royal British Legion rides. In 2026 a team of six riders raised £16,500, taking the total past £100,000. We also funded a stand for the Royal British Legion’s Hartlepool branch at the town’s Tall Ships event. Social value is the wider benefit a business creates for people and communities beyond the work it is paid to do, such as jobs for people facing barriers to work, support for charities and schools, and a positive effect on the local area. Many public sector clients now score it in tenders.
We open up careers to people from underrepresented groups, support charities through fundraising and volunteering, work with schools and young people, and support the Armed Forces community. Our social value case studies show the outcomes of this work.
