Since 2020, RSS Infrastructure has supported the Railway Children Sleepout, a nationwide event that raises awareness and vital funds for children at risk of homelessness and exploitation. By taking part every year, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and making an impact beyond infrastructure services.

What we did
The Railway Children Sleepout is an annual event where participants spend a night without home comforts to highlight the realities faced by children living on the streets. RSS Infrastructure staff have attended every event since 2020.
The event is organised by Railway Children, a charity that identifies and supports children forced to live on the streets because of poverty, neglect, abuse or exploitation. The charity has helped over 275,000 children in the past 20 years across the UK, India and East Africa. Participants bring sleeping bags, warm clothing and essentials, spend the night in railway stations and share their experience on social media to raise awareness.
How it helped
- Fundraising: RSS Infrastructure has contributed over £5,000 through its continued support. In 2020 alone, the event exceeded its £100,000 target, reaching over £150,000.
- Increased awareness: participation from rail sector organisations, including RSSI, has amplified the message about the dangers children face on the streets.
