RSS Infrastructure has supported the Armed Forces Covenant for many years. As part of Auctus Management Group, we hold the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, first achieved in 2019 and renewed in 2024. We welcome veterans, Reservists and military families into our workforce, and our Team Auctus riders have raised over £100,000 for the Royal British Legion.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly. It encourages organisations to support the Armed Forces community, to recognise the sacrifices made by those who serve, and to help service leavers make the move into civilian life.
Our support led to the group receiving the Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in 2019, the highest level of the scheme, and the award was renewed in 2024. Read our Armed Forces Covenant case study.
Veterans bring leadership, clear decision-making, teamwork and safety-focused thinking, qualities that matter as much on the railway as they do in the Armed Forces. Several of our colleagues have moved from military service into senior roles, including Ryan Spence, our Head of Managed Environments and Armed Forces Champion:

RSS Infrastructure no longer acts as a training provider. We support ex-service personnel through external training providers to gain the skills and qualifications they need for a career in the rail industry, and we work alongside the Career Transition Partnership as part of Auctus Management Group.
We are a proud partner of the Royal British Legion. Our Team Auctus riders have raised over £100,000 across seven Royal British Legion rides, including £16,500 from a team of six riders in 2026, and we funded a stand for the Legion’s Hartlepool branch.
