Royal British Legion stand at the Hartlepool Maritime and Tall Ships Event

Supporting the Hartlepool Branch of the Royal British Legion

RSS Infrastructure supported the Royal British Legion (RBL) at the Hartlepool Maritime & Tall Ships Event, held from 6 to 9 July 2023. The event celebrated maritime heritage with a fleet of tall ships, military-themed activities and community engagement. With our help, the RBL had a professional and visible presence, enhancing its outreach and support for veterans in the region.

  • Organisation: Royal British Legion
  • Location: Hartlepool Maritime & Tall Ships Event
  • Activity: Sponsored gazebo
  • Outcome: Enhanced visibility

“The generous support of RSS Infrastructure made a tremendous difference to the Royal British Legion’s presence at the event. Their contribution allowed us to represent the Armed Forces community with dignity and pride.”

Sian Cameron, Chair, Royal British Legion Hartlepool

Key actions

  • A dual-branded gazebo: RSSI funded a high-quality gazebo, giving the RBL a professional and welcoming stand.
  • Supporting the Armed Forces community: veterans and service personnel had a dedicated space at the event.
  • Community engagement: raised public awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant and encouraged business participation.

What we did

Facing financial constraints, the local RBL branch had planned to run its stand from a small desk and two plastic chairs. Understanding the importance of a strong community presence, RSSI invested in a professional dual-branded gazebo, significantly improving the RBL’s ability to engage with visitors.

Beyond financial help, we raised awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant, encouraging businesses and individuals to support those who serve or have served.

How it helped

  • More RBL engagement: the upgraded stand helped the RBL connect with more veterans, families and supporters.
  • Greater awareness: more visibility for the RBL’s vital work.
  • Positive veteran representation: the Armed Forces community was properly recognised at a major regional event.
  • Business participation: encouraged local businesses to engage with the Armed Forces Covenant.

How it reflects our values

We remain committed to delivering social value by supporting veteran communities, fostering inclusivity and respect for those who have served.
