RSS Infrastructure donated refurbished laptops to Donisthorpe Primary School, a small village school with just over 200 pupils. The initiative was led by Simon Capper from our Rail Operations division, whose daughter attends the school. By repurposing and donating laptops, we gave pupils greater access to digital tools, and the school’s ICT technician installed specialist apps and software so they were ready to use.

What we did
After recognising the school’s need for better IT resources, Simon Capper worked with internal teams to repurpose company laptops for educational use. The devices were refurbished and handed over to the school, where the ICT technician set them up with the software pupils need.
The donation supports the school’s long-running fundraising to improve its ICT, allowing more pupils to access digital learning and keeping computing an integral part of the curriculum.
How it helped
- More access to technology: more pupils can take part in computing lessons and build digital skills.
- Support for the curriculum: the laptops are used for word processing, coding and other ICT subjects.
- Less electronic waste: company laptops were given a second life.
