“RSSI’s expertise in rope access was invaluable for the Ocker Hill project. Their team ensured safe, efficient vegetation clearance, enabling our ecological survey to proceed seamlessly.”
RSSI’s Arboriculture and Rope Access (IRATA) Division successfully led a GTDS project at the Ocker Hill Substation. The task involved an ecological survey and vegetation clearance on a steep embankment using rope access techniques, ensuring no habitat was present whilst the vegetation was removed, enabling clear and safe access for construction to continue on the project. This clearance would provide an unobstructed view of the embankment, allowing the construction to erect scaffolding and construct a spillway leading to the nearby river. The project was completed in a day and was valued at £3,012,00.

During the building project at Ocker Hill, an ecological habitat survey was required. To ensure accurate observation and assessment, vegetation on a steep embankment needed to be cleared. This clearance would provide an unobstructed view of the embankment, allowing researchers to study the ecology and assess any potential impact of the building project.
The client faced significant safety concerns due to the steepness of the embankment and the dense vegetation. The risk of slipping and falling into the river below was high, and the dense vegetation further complicated the task by obstructing footing and balance.
RSSI, known for its expertise in rope access services, was brought on board. Their skilled team used rope access techniques to safely and efficiently clear the vegetation. In collaboration with the client, RSSI also developed an access and egress platform and a landing area for the client’s ongoing building project.
The project was completed seamlessly, on time, and according to the programme. The client could proceed with their project without any hindrance, and the area’s ecological integrity was maintained. The project was executed seamlessly, with the teams completing the work scope on time and according to the planned programme, highlighting the collaboration’s value and efficiency.
