As part of the Network Rail Framework Agreement for the Provision of Labour Services, RSS Infrastructure has been supplying signalling teams to assist in the regular depot maintenance and minor renewals carried out by Network Rail at Sheffield. This includes providing staff to boost team size for day or night shifts, ensuring that maintenance and minor renewals are completed on time and to the highest standards.
The RSS Infrastructure staff is competent in various types of signalling equipment, including track circuits, axle counters, filament signals, LED signals, various point operating equipment, earth readings, and voltage and current readings. They also have fault-finding experience, which is invaluable to Network Rail due to the nature of the work being carried out.
To ensure the safety and reliability of the signalling systems, all staff supplied by RSS Infrastructure were issued with the latest version of Network Rail standards, which they work to on-site.
This included the NR/L3/SIG/10064 General Instructions to Staff Working on S&T Equipment Issue 11 03/09/2022, NR/L3/SIG/10663 Signal Maintenance Specifications Issue 15 03/09/2022, and NR/L3/SIG/11231 SMTH Work Instruction Issue 17 03/09/2022.
By supplying skilled signalling teams on an ongoing basis, RSS Infrastructure has provided flexible staffing solutions that enable Network Rail to complete maintenance and minor renewals, even if faults are reported and some team members have to leave to attend to them. This ensures that the Sheffield Maintenance Depot signalling project is completed on time and to the highest standards.
