What is EDI?

Promoting equality should remove discrimination in all these areas. Bullying, harassment or victimisation are also considered as equality and diversity issues.

New business opportunities delivered through EDI

HS2 will create opportunities to improve skills, jobs, education and the economy through its investment along the length of the route. HS2 aims to be an exemplar for the rail engineering and construction industry in acting as a driver for improvements in the sustainability of the sector by appointing the right workforce, to be available at the right time with the right skills and behaviours. The delivery of Skills, Employment and Education opportunities supports HS2’s objectives to create opportunities for young, local and underrepresented groups of people.

Laing Murphy: LM requires that all Sub-Contractors and their Supply chain support the delivery of Skills, Employment and Education opportunities in line with the requirements set out below. Contribution from the supply chain will be in terms of apprenticeship numbers and SEE output:

‘LM recognises that the workforce delivering the project must represent and reflect the great diversity of our local communities; acting as a vehicle that creates opportunities for different talent pools, resulting in improvements in social and economic wellbeing. LM will extend its existing inclusive work environment throughout the supply chain and other stakeholders and push the boundaries even further and achieving a lasting legacy in the communities that we are working in’.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row_full_center_content”][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion active_section=”1″ css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_tta_section title=”Apprentice Requirement” tab_id=”1523997684274-37a6dddb-8ab5″][vc_column_text]EWC Area North must maintain a minimum of 2.5% of the total workforce engaged in the delivery of the works as apprentices. Suppliers will contribute towards this through a mix of new and existing apprentice with no less than 50% new starts and no more than 50% existing apprentices already employed.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Contract £3 million or above” tab_id=”1523997684293-70042c39-161a”][vc_column_text]A minimum of 1 SEE output per £3 million contract value chosen from a mix of output areas that include workless job starts, workless graduate job starts, support for the National College of High Speed Rail, support for employees registering and achieving Professional Status, work placements and school engagement.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Contracts £3million or below” tab_id=”1523997747233-d45602bf-8cce”][vc_column_text]Suppliers will be required to achieve a minimum contribution towards the EWC Area North aggregated SEE total figure.
