RSS Infrastructure and INFRA Skills Shortlisted For Midlands Business Awards18/10/2019
RSS Infrastructure Ltd (RSSI) and INFRA Skills Ltd has been shortlisted for the ‘Midlands Corporate Commitment to the Community Award’ at the Midlands Business Awards 2019. The awards celebrate the finest business talent within the Midlands, showcased through 13 different award categories.
As part of the ‘Midlands Business Awards’ submission process, the companies provided evidence that demonstrated how they are supporting the local community and creating successful partnerships, whilst delivering increased levels of safety and productivity.
RSS Infrastructure and INFRA Skills have exhibited their understanding of the infrastructure sector, and through their vision to ‘Empower people to create a safer and more productive world” they aim to develop revolutionary ways to break down some of the barriers faced within this industry.
Traditionally the sector has worked on zero-hour contracts, which can hamper project delivery times, with the high turnover of workers. RSSI have taken action by directly employing a number of team leaders who act as the point of contact for the client. Each Team Leader is given the autonomy to run their team, whilst ensuring full compliance with industry regulations, and this helps to improve both client and worker engagement. The success of this has been demonstrated by their employee retention rate of 82%.
INFRA Skills, an NSAR Gold standard training provider, ensures every member of their team, has the underpinning safety knowledge needed to remain safe. RSSI reward committed workers with a career personal development plan, and through INFRA Skills upskill and recertify their competencies. Figures show that around 90% of those beginning their career or requiring recertification with RSSI, have their training/assessments fully paid.
Auctus Management Group Ltd (AMG) and its subsidiary businesses have a long-standing history of working in partnership with local agencies, colleges, charities and government departments. As part of this partnership, INFRA Skills is supporting black minority ethnic groups, women, ex-offenders, ex-armed forces, young people, those with disabilities and individuals struggling to find employment by reducing the number of difficulties facing them whilst trying to gain employment. The company has achieved this by equipping them with both the skills and knowledge required to work within the sector, as well as how to conduct themselves safely when onsite.
INFRA Skills offer fully-funded training programmes that provide candidates with an excellent grounding on which to build their career and ultimately position themselves as ideal candidates for perspective employers. The bespoke course has been designed to meet the needs of today’s rail employers and includes; the Personal Track Safety (PTS) Course with Track Induction, Industry Common Induction (ICI), Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card (CSCS), Access Overhead Lines Construction Sites (OLEC1), Small Plant Training, Asbestos Awareness and First Aid. The success of this project has already enabled over 300 job seekers and benefits claimants to stop their dependency on benefits and begin their journey into an exciting new career in rail.
INFRA Skills have also developed a Mobile Assessment Application designed for assessing the competency levels of its workforce using its bespoke bronze, silver and gold question sets. The use of this assessment tool means the company and clients can be rest assured that personnel have been trained to the highest possible level and remain compliant with latest industry standards.
Working in collaboration with Colas Rail, INFRA Skills designed a bespoke apprenticeship that focused on creating a program that provides learners with a route into the rail sector, honing in on their scientific, technical, engineering, mathematical and design skillsets. It was the UK’s first Level 3 Rail Apprenticeship standard, demonstrating their commitment to create a programme that meets the industry’s needs, ensuring the sector can remain sustainable and grow whilst creating a new generation of industry-leaders.
The companies are also committed supporters of the Armed Forces Community, ensuring that guidance is given to the recruitment of reserves, as well as encouraging employees to join the Reserve Forces. Collectively they have hired 7 service leavers, from several Army Regiments, who have been placed on personal development plans specifically tailored to their career aspirations.
