5648 welds cast at an industry leading failure rate of 0.48% with an average of 32 x burning shifts completed each week.

RSSI Welding was the sole welding sub contractor from 2011 to 2018 (and now sit as one of 4 contractors to High Output on the national renewal program) with welding solely delivered by RSSI Welding [formerly Carillion Rail Welding] whose planning team were integrated within High Output resource team co-ordinating the delivery of welding and burning resource across the UK.

With the challenge of various locations across the UK RSSI positioned satellite welding facilities across the UK meaning core teams were available, reducing not only fatigue but emissions through reduced travel. To deliver this weekly wash up meetings were planned with monthly performance reviews with lookahead to future campaigns analysed and programmed using experience from previous campaigns to guarantee continual successful delivery.

With safety being paramount in all that we do RSS Infrastructure management staff are integrated into the safety management team sitting on the High Output Safety Steering Group where the entire supply chain has the opportunity to review and input information creating a industry leading best practice from a committee committed to reducing accidents and incidents across the network. RSS Infrastructure have led this participation and innovated specific safety measures such as metatarsal (ankle) protection boots and exclusion zone works around welding works as well as the provision of site safety personnel free of charge to assist with site specific risk reduction.
