What will I be doing?
As an experienced MMA5/FCAW1-2 welder you supervise a team of experienced welders responsible for the safe site delivery of welding and track based activities being delivered to both internal and external clients
Your role will require teams under your supervision to cover a number of projects. You will be responsible for the resources supplied into these projects by the welding depot function. On a day to day basis your duties will include:
- Assisting in developing the welding teams with a view to meeting the potential increases in work load for clients.
- Being an active participant in developing the capabilities of the Welding team and its workers, identifying individuals who show the potential for further career development and enhancement by additional training, coaching and mentoring.
- Ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported and escalated as per the HSQE and Compliance rules.
- Develop, encourage and maintain an open and fair safety culture with in the Welding teams.
- Represent the Welding business in HSQE activities within the wider business.
- Ensure that all Safety Critical workers have undertaken the necessary training and registration prior
- Ensure that all workers driving vehicles have been approved as drivers and are conversant with the business Fleet Management rules.
- Ensure all workers allocated to assignments have the appropriate PPE and safety critical equipment to meet their assignment needs including RPE
- Attend regular 1 to 1 ‘s with the Head of Welding
- Develop productive working relationships with colleagues, customers and clients.
- Ensure Health & Safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements.
- Recruit, select and retain colleagues.
- Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of responsibility.
- Reduce and manage conflict in your team.
- Lead meetings.
- Manage physical resources.
- Take effective decisions.
- Work with others to improve customer service.
What experience would we like you to have?
To be selected for interview your application should demonstrate significant rail welding experience, knowledge of NWR welding standards and ideally previous supervisory experience.
