The INFRA family of companies which includes RSS Infrastructure help individuals struggling to find employment by reducing the number of barriers facing them whilst trying to gain employment. The company has achieved this by equipping them with both the skills and knowledge required to work within the sector as well as how to conduct themselves safely when onsite. The company was also instrumental in assisting its partners with understanding the rules and regulations laid down by Network Rail to govern the sector and ensures that all applicants are compliant and inducted safely into the rail environment.
Learners that join the fully funded training programme are provided with an excellent grounding on which to build their career and ultimately position themselves as ideal candidates for perspective employers. The bespoke course has been designed to meet the needs of today’s rail employers and includes; the Personal Track Safety Course with Track Induction, Industry Common Induction (ICI), Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card (CSCS), Access Overhead Lines Construction Sites (OLEC1), Small Tools Training, Asbestos Awareness and First Aid. Furthermore, the trainers focus a significant portion of the first week on introducing the learners to the fundamentals of rail terminology and practices such as learning the phonetic alphabet, reviewing the PTS Handbook as well as undertaking the Health and Safety Induction.
To provide that learners with an opportunity to put their theory in practice, the company has a dedicated training facility based at the Seven Valley Railway. The agreement that is in place also helps to ensure that this heritage site is maintained and can continue to be enjoyed by generations to come.
The success of this project has already enabled over 100 job seekers and benefits claimants to stop their dependency on benefits and begin their journey into an exciting new career in rail. A significant portion of those that have successfully completed this course have been placed with RSS and several well-known Principle Contractors that include; Midland Metro, Babcock, Amey, Colas Rail, Network Rail and Carillion.
